Project Overview
This project involved upgrading a long residential driveway winding through a heavily landscaped property. The existing driveway was a mix of loose gravel and dirt that had broken down over time, leaving an uneven, patchy surface.
Our goal was to give the owners a smooth, durable driveway that handles everyday traffic and weather, while fitting in with the property’s established gardens.
The Challenge
The old surface had worn down into loose gravel, dirt patches and wheel ruts. Rain kept washing material around, and the surface shifted under tyres, making it messy and uneven to drive on.
The driveway is narrow and bordered by mature trees, gardens, fencing and an existing retaining wall, so there was very little room for machinery. Everything had to be done carefully to protect the surrounding landscaping and structures.
The Solution
We cleared loose material and debris from the driveway, then regraded the base to create an even surface with proper fall for drainage. The base was compacted to give the new surface a solid foundation.
The driveway was then sealed and rolled to a smooth, consistent finish. We kept the edges clean along the retaining wall and garden beds, so the new surface sits neatly within the existing layout.
The Result
The driveway has gone from loose, rutted gravel to a smooth, sealed surface that’s clean, quiet and easy to drive on. It no longer shifts or washes out in the rain, and it needs far less maintenance.
It now frames the property’s gardens perfectly and gives the whole entry a tidy, finished look.
