Project Overview
This project involved several excavation tasks on a commercial warehouse site. We were brought in to repair a retaining batter that had blown out, dig a 70m footing for a new loading dock, and complete precision trimming in areas the grader couldn’t reach.
Our goal was to restore the batter, deliver an accurate footing ready for the concrete crew, and get the tight areas trimmed to level so the build could keep moving.
The Challenge
A section of the batter along the boundary wall had failed, leaving loose, slumped material that needed to be cut back and reshaped to a stable profile. The work area was a narrow strip between the concrete wall and bushland, leaving little room for machinery.
The 70m loading dock footing had to be dug to consistent depth and line along its full length. Inside the building and along the wall edges, there were tight spots where the grader simply couldn’t fit, but they still had to be trimmed to the same finished levels.
The Solution
Working in the narrow corridor with our excavator, we cut back the failed section and re-trimmed the batter to a clean, stable profile that ties in with the rest of the slope.
We then dug the 70m footing for the loading dock, keeping it straight, square and at consistent depth for the full run. Inside the building and along the edges, we trimmed the subgrade by hand-guided machine work to match the grader’s finished levels, ready for the next trades.
The Result
The batter is now stable and reshaped, the loading dock footing is dug true and ready for concrete, and every hard-to-reach area has been trimmed to level. The builder was able to move straight on to the next stage without delays.
The site now has clean, accurate groundwork in the places that are hardest to get right.
